The Group Executive Committee plays a vital role in the running of a Scout Group. Executive Committees make decisions and carry out administrative tasks to ensure that the best quality Scouting can be delivered to young people in the Group.
We establish our Scout Group Executive Committee at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) usually held in May each year. However, members can be co-opted at any time of the year. The Committee exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of their appointment with its main responsibilities being:
-
Property and equipment
-
Group finances
-
Insurance for people, property and equipment
-
Recruitment – leaders and adults
-
Fundraising
-
Safety Policy
Being involved in the Scout Group Executive Committee is very worthwhile and the Leaders greatly value the support shown by all its members. Being a member can be as involved as you wish; from attending the 6 meetings we have a year, to holding an officer position such as Chair or Secretary.
